SAS Name

Screening result (SR) supplemental health related social need (HRSN) physical activity composite indicator.

Comments

The variable considered for this indicator is SR_SPLMTL_PHYS_ACTVTY_1_2_QTY, which is the product of SR_SPLMTL_PHYS_ACTVTY_1_CD and SR_SPLMTL_PHYS_ACTVTY_2_CD.

Whether this field is “1” depends on 1) the amount of exercise engaged in each week, and 2) the respondent’s age:

  • Under 6 years old: No physical activity HRSN
  • Age 6 to 17: Fewer than an average of 60 minutes per day indicates a physical activity HRSN
  • Age 18 or older: Fewer than 150 minutes per week indicates a physical activity HRSN

Example: If a 57-year-old indicates that she exercises two days a week for 40 minutes, her score would be 80 minutes per week [2 days x 40 minutes = 80 minute per week]. Because she is over 18 and exercises fewer than 150 minutes per week, she has an identified physical activity HRSN.

Variables that start with “SR” include information for each screening.
